Tom Hiddleston's High-Rise Trailer Looks Mesmerizing And Creepy, Watch It Now

It’s not clear exactly where this skyscraper is, but what is clear is that you should stay as far away from it as possible. Why? That’s not clear either, but there is something absolutely disconcerting about High-Rise. The trailer, however, is an absolute masterpiece. You’ll be forgiven for believing you were watching a commercial until you watch things slowly fall apart. Even the narrator seems to realize that there’s something terribly wrong here. Check out the new trailer.

For the first half of the trailer this place certainly feels like a great place to live. It seems to have everything you need; every modern convenience is available. It’s only when it’s suggested that you might not want to leave that you realize that that’s exactly the thing that you want to do right now. There is definitely something wrong here. From the trailer you can’t tell if you just walked into a horror movie, or something even more sinister. Unlike many recent trailers that basically tell you the entire story of the film in three minutes, this one leaves you guessing. There is certainly something going on, but the fact that you don’t even know what it is, is the thing that makes it the most chilling.

High-Rise is based on the novel by J.G. Ballard and will follow Tom Hiddleston as he gets involved in a class war with his neighbors from within the confines of the building. The synopsis makes it sound like Lord of the Flies with yuppies. Has there ever been another concept more terrifying? Hiddleston will play the role of Dr. Robert Laing, a character he became so committed to that he actually participated in autopsies as part of his research. We assume his character is a pathologist, although other reasons the character may be involved in autopsies certainly make for entertaining possibilities in the movie.

The film will be directed by Ben Wheatley, who previously helmed Kill List and Sightseers, both movies that were very good at making you feel uncomfortable from start to finish. High-Rise is not looking to change up the formula at all. If anything, this is looking even more bizarre and twisted.

Time, and more trailers, may tell us a little bit more about what’s at the heart of the High-Rise. We’re certainly intrigued to see more of what’s happening inside this building. The film contains a stellar cast. In addition to Tom Hiddleston, the films boasts Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller and Elizabeth Moss. We’re looking forward to visiting the High-Rise but we don’t think we want to live there.
