Star Wars: The Force Awakens Reactions Are In, Here's What People Are Saying

We all knew tonight's premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was going to be the stuff of legends. It didn't matter of the film was a dud, or if it was a gift from heaven, either result was going to light social media on fire. Well, we've got the reactions of some of the lucky attendees that got to see the film first, and they're pretty much what you'd expect from a film as big as this one.  

Strangely enough, it looked like the reactions would have been held off until later in the evening, as the premiere let out a little later than expected and radio silence seemed to rule the airwaves. Was it good? Was it bad? Our first indication came from THR's Matt Belloni, as he tweeted the following:  

A good sign, for sure, but some more, non-spoiler, specifics would have been appreciated. Especially when the next reaction we saw was a very vaguely worded missive from Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld: 

That reaction could have gone either way, but for some reason we've got a feeling that Liefeld actually enjoyed himself. The same guess work wasn't necessary with THR's Scott Feinberg, who was quick and to the point on how he enjoyed the film:  

Eric Vespe, aka Ain't It Cool News' Quint, couldn't put his feelings into words. Instead, he let some scruffy looking Nerf herder do the talking for him:  

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is racking up a good score with movie journalists, and the one comic artist that reacted, so far. But how do our fellow geeks in the acting profession feel about the film? Leave it to Rainn Wilson to answer that for us with the following gush of approval: 

Meanwhile, The Goldberg's creator, Adam F. Goldberg, actually got up the courage not only to put his rubber stamp of approval on the film, but also to rank the films in order of greatness.  

With all of the talk of Star Wars being a universe problematic in diversity, for bothwomen and minorities, it's actually refreshing to hear The L.A. Times' Rebecca Keegan not only enjoying the film, but also complimenting it on its treatment of female characters: 

Of course, not everyone is going to enjoy Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and sure enough Devin Faraci broke the streak of goodwill with the following backhanded compliment: 

Ultimately, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still pretty much in the bag as this weekend's film to beat. But in order to truly be the record-breaking juggernaut that everyone's assuming it will be, it's going to have to live up to the hype. So far, it looks like the reaction is trending towards that very possibility becoming a reality.
