One Major DC Star Is Game To Switch Sides For A Marvel Movie

DC and Marvel comics have been rivals for decades. That rivalry started in the comic pages but has since evolved to include TV and movies as well. Today the two sides seem to be using Hollywood actors like they're picking sides for the world’s largest game of elementary school kickball. Will this actor get tapped for a Marvel role or a DC role first? Now, one of the more recognizable names on the DC side says he’d be interested in taking a Marvel role if he was offered something great.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell was running a brief Q & A among his fans on Facebook when he was asked if he’d be interested in doing something within the Marvel universe. His answer was more than clear.
Sure, why not?  I'm up for roles -- movie roles -- although I've never really read Marvel Comics and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC guy. But it's not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I'd be like 'No, I can't.'

While Stephen Amell is in his fourth year on Arrow, his character is being limited to the small screen. We haven’t heard anything about a silver screen version of the character yet, but we know there will be two versions of the Flash, so it follows the same will happen with the Green Arrow, as well. This means he’s probably more likely to end up in a Marvel movie than he would be to show up in one for DC. Casting him as something other than Green Arrow in a DC movie would just be confusing.

Watching these comics universes evolve on screen is going to be an interesting thing. At some point the actors who originated the roles will be leaving while, at the same time, new characters are being added all the time. At some point, some actor who’s already playing a role on one side of the fence is going to be offered a part by the other side as well. Hollywood just isn’t that large. Amell is already branching out his comic book work on screen, as he’ll be portraying Casey Jones in the upcoming sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One more and he gets a set of steak knives.

Matthew McConaughey recently revealed he’s been looking at scripts for both Marvel and DC movies. We all sort of assumed that he’ll pick one or the other. But why can’t he pick both? We also know Marvel is willing to look at casting the same actors for multiple roles. Maybe in the movie business we just can’t draw the lines that hard. You can see Stephen Amell’s comments below, at the 7:05 mark.

Is there a Marvel role that would be a good one for the man who plays the Green Arrow? Where would you like to see him appear?
