The world is still reeling from the Paris attacks that left scores dead and more injured, and the entertainment sector is also trying to get a handle on how to move forward. The hacktivist group Anonymous recently put their targets on ISIS (or Daesh, if you will), and now a group claiming ties to Anonymous claim that they’ve uncovered the terrorists’ plans to attack a handful of different places on Sunday night, and that list includes the arena where the WWE pay-per-view event Survivor Series is being held.  What the what?

Conflicting reports have arisen after the initial declaration came from OpParisIntel, the group supposedly within the Anonymous community, but let’s look first at what that report said. They claim terrorists would be attacking the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, where the WWE’s 29th annual Survivor Series event is being held. The group even gave the detailed time stamp of 7:30 p.m. ET as when the attack would occur. Additionally, according to the International Business Times, it was reported that attacks would also happen in three areas of Paris, one in Rome, one in Indonesia, one in Milan and one in Lebanon. But how worried should anyone actually be?

As it turns out, the group that “broke” this news may not be officially tied to Anonymous at all. (In as much as anyone is officially tied to Anonymous.) Here’s what they say.

Although just because they’re allegedly not connected to Anonymous doesn’t necessarily make their intel false. Nor does it make it true. Survivor Series seems like a weirdly random place for a terrorist attack, but then so did an Eagles of Death Metal concert. There are no “correct” places for terrorists to attack, after all. It’s all extremely heinous.

Even if this all manages to be a bunch of hooey, the proper authorities have been alerted and are taking the proper precautions. J. Britt Johnson, the FBI Special Agent in Charge at the Atlanta office, said they didn’t have any credible information about it, but that they’re aware of the rumor.
The FBI is aware of reports of an alleged threat that includes an Atlanta, Georgia venue and event. We have…made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private-sector partners to keep our communities safe.

With the same sentiments going for all the other events in question, we obviously hope that Survivor Series goes off without a hitch, with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line in whoever ends up winning the tournament format. Be safe, people.
