New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage Finally Lets Finn Talk
This new spot dropped earlier today, and while it doesn't seem to spoil any new big ticket reveals from the upcoming film, it certainly gives us some more details into the life of Finn. More specifically, it gives us more background into how long he may have been with the First Order, before quitting its ranks to join Rey and BB-8 on the journey of a lifetime. Though Finn's chosen a new path in his life, as seen in this TV spot shared by JoBlo, it's one that's looking mighty familiar to us on the other side of the screen, as his storyline looks reminiscent of Luke Skywalker'sadventures in the classic trilogy.
Obviously, the fact that Finn possess the blue lightsaber that all heroes must possess at the beginning of their Star Wars journey recalls the moment that Luke first heard about his father's heroism during the Clone Wars. While Finn's status as a Force Sensitive has come into question throughout the massive marketing blitz that is the road to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he looks like he's just as eager to fight a Stormtrooper with the chosen weapon of galactic justice.
Then, of course, there's the big callback towards the end of the spot that directly connects to the original trilogy. If you cue the video above to 00:25, you'll see Finn in the gunner's seat of the Millennium Falcon, letting out a gigantic holler of enthusiasm. Not only is this infectious to the viewer, but it also recalls the memory of Han and Luke zapping TIE Fighters while escaping the Death Star
